The piece Feed Me is conceptually based off the increasing downfalls of consumerism and indulgence.  The urban American lives in a world full of empty ideas of happiness, like wealth, and material things. Consumerism is an economic policy that emphasizes consumption to stimulate the economy. In today’s world it has been taken to new heights. The foods we eat regularly are so processed and manipulated from the raw organic foods that they come, from they make the population sick. More than half the American population is overweight, and 25.6 million adults over the age of 20 have diabetes. The foods the government is responsible for regulating, are the foods that are making their population sick.  The economy is down and depression rates are up because the American population believes so firmly that their happiness relates directly to their money or material goods. I am a victim of all these things. My psychological state is one that orbits the ideas of success, money, and happiness as the ultimate goal. I blindly consume what the population believes to be “good”. However, society’s opinion of whether something is “good” is completely skewed by propaganda.  This piece is the corpse of the blind consumer I used to be. It is fat, and includes a obviously gray color scheme. It looks incoherent and unhealthy. It looks like every other blind American Consumer that hasn’t woken up.
